This day is bananas. B-a-n-a-n-a-s. This day is bananas.

Speaker 1:

Good morning, it's 6.09. Alright, yes, I'm okay. You're struggling. Yeah, I'm struggling. You're going to be okay though.

Speaker 2:

I tried to stay up and watch the VMAs last night.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And I didn't get enough sleep, but I did watch Taylor Swift sweep it.

Speaker 1:

How many awards did she win again last?

Speaker 2:

night A million.

Speaker 1:

The VMAs, the Video Music Awards on MTV, but they've been doing these for how many years? Since the beginning of time?

Speaker 2:

Since the beginning of time. It's probably in AD, I don't know. But her and Post Malone won so many awards and I know everybody's hating on Taylor because of her political sense right now, but I love Taylor so much and she's not going to influence me either way.

Speaker 1:

I mean either way Me, either me either.

Speaker 2:

Left or right. I'm just going to think for myself and choose the best candidate. Sure, you know.

Speaker 1:

I don't think people should let celebrities influence them. I don't mean let, but they can have their stance, but the celebrities can. But I don't mean let. They can have their stance, but the celebrities can. But I don't mean it's going to change my mind. I'm a big fan of a lot of singers and actors and actresses, but I'm still going to vote the way I want to vote for any election.

Speaker 2:

Well, we have to.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, Just because somebody up there that's had 10,000 million records says oh, here's who I like okay, fine, good, I know I'm happy for you.

Speaker 2:

So yesterday I hung up a huge three. I hung up you helped me my three by five foot taylor swift flag in my office where did you get this taylor swift flag amazon duh oh sorry and so I put it up, and I put it on my stories and people started thumbs down oh, they were booing you, yeah. So I took it off. I was like oh, no, okay, and I thought to myself at first why do this mean people not like Taylor Swift?

Speaker 1:

And then I remember oh Well, it's defending you. You put it up, not anything to do with politics, it's because you like Taylor Swift.

Speaker 2:

No, but how ironic is it. Is it acting?

Speaker 1:

like Taylor.

Speaker 2:

Swift is running for president. Yeah, no, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Anyway, but we'll talk more about that. I had like record audience watching the debate a couple of nights ago. I heard, yeah, I broke records, yeah, yeah. But the main story today is the weather. The weather got to be careful.

Speaker 1:

We do have a chance of strong storms later today, nothing like what they've been seeing in southern Louisiana. Of course, a hurricane came ashore about lunchtime yesterday. A lot of flooding in Louisiana, a lot of flooding. As heavy rainfall continues, moving through Mississippi, it's moving a little more to the northwest, which is good for Alabama. We won't see quite as much rain as they first thought, but we're still going to see a lot. That's why we do have a flash flood watch in effect for all of us until about 7 Saturday morning. Saturday morning is when it's finally going to start lighting up some Wind advisory, until 7 am tomorrow morning as the hurricane winds come through. Nothing like the hurricane winds they saw, but our winds will be up to 30, 35, 40 miles per hour. So yeah, with the ground being wet and the wind's that strong, you could have some be up without power, possibly with a tree.

Speaker 2:

No, don't say that.

Speaker 1:

You could? No, that's, you'll have to. I have to give you a heads up. There is a chance you could have trees down.

Speaker 2:

Well, don't mean it when you say it.

Speaker 1:

I'm sorry, okay, just no.

Speaker 2:

No.

Speaker 1:

Seriously, there is a chance. Because of this much rain, the ground is going to be soggy.

Speaker 1:

And with the winds blowing 30, 40 miles an hour, you could have a tree down a power line down a tree falling. There is a chance. I just want to give you a heads up. That's why we encourage you to always download the WQSP free app, put it on your smart device and take it with you wherever you go, because if you lose power, this way we can keep you in touch with the weather. What's going on?

Speaker 1:

As far as strong storms, the best chance for us will be after about four or five o'clock today. There's going to be a line coming through, yeah, and there's a chance of some damaging winds, heavy rainfall and even a slight risk of a spin-up tornado Today, today. This is today, yeah, oh man, and it's going to be kind of messy off and on all night tonight and then tomorrow. Football Friday. Some forecasts are showing a lot of the rain will be out of here. Not out of here, but it won't be as heavy like starting after lunch tomorrow, but it's still going to rain off and on tomorrow night. So high school football looks like it could be messy. As long as the thunder and as long as the lightning stays away, the games can be played. They can be played. Yeah, there may be a chance one or two could be moved to Saturday, but even then Saturday's also going to be a mess.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, oh, I've got peewee, cheer on.

Speaker 1:

Saturday Now the new forecast for Saturday is showing a 70% chance of showers, possibly thunderstorms. Now, finally, by Saturday night, things get better. Sunday is going to be much better Sunday night. I know there's a lot of events which we'll be talking about later today. Everybody, john Henderson, drops by and joins us. But, there is still a chance of rain Sunday night, but the chance has dropped.

Speaker 2:

No, it's better. No, it's not going to rain. Yeah, we've got a big celebration coming up.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, tell about the celebration real quick. Tell about the celebration real quick. Okay, so this is for everybody, not just for your church.

Speaker 2:

No, this is not just for Compassion City Church, this is just put on by Compassion City Church. So Sunday night at 5.30, they're going to have inflatables, all kinds of fun stuff for the kids from 5.30 to 7. Right, it's at Sand Mountain Park in the amphitheater, and then our worship team starts at 7. We're going to have a night of worship and then end with fireworks. My pastor, john Henderson, is going to come in about a little after 8 and talk about it.

Speaker 1:

And it's for everybody. It's your celebration. What's your birthday?

Speaker 2:

10 year anniversary and it's a community event of worship. So, literally, and I invited you and I really want you to come, I'm going to go. You are Looking forward to it. Oh, good, good, good, good. I love it.

Speaker 1:

I've been to Compassion a few times, but I go to LifePoint but you like John, I love John.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

I love going compassion. You're visiting Yep, I do.

Speaker 2:

Well, you can come visit with me sometime.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we'll be visiting Sunday night, oh, yeah, so it's going to be fun, so we'll talk more about that and other things going on this morning. How do you know Things you need to know? Today, thursday, september the 12th we're almost halfway through another month. What's going on today?

Speaker 2:

Today is National Chocolate Milkshake Day.

Speaker 1:

Oh, I love milkshakes, do you? What is your favorite flavor of milkshakes?

Speaker 2:

They make my tummy hurt. I really don't drink them. But I will tell you this If I had to pick one, it would be peanut butter from Bee Gees. Peanut butter milkshake from Bee Gees that's a good one.

Speaker 1:

I love the peach milkshakes from Chick-fil-A. What You're not American.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I am. I like apple pie and baseball.

Speaker 1:

I just don't like peach milkshakes. Well, you need to rethink your values. Okay, I'll think about it. We're going to have a meeting online.

Speaker 2:

But do you know it's chocolate milkshake day. But do we really have a meeting? No, we are now because of Chocolate Milkshake Day, but the number one flavor of milkshake in the United States is strawberry.

Speaker 1:

I would not have guessed that. I would not have either. I would have guessed vanilla or chocolate. I would have too.

Speaker 2:

Number two is chocolate, number three is vanilla and number four is Peach, peach, peach is big, especially summertime when the peaches are fresh. Nah, whatever the NFL says, that the week one TV matchups drew an average of 21 million viewers per game.

Speaker 1:

It was big.

Speaker 2:

Yep setting a new viewership record for the opening week games A total of 123 million viewers tuned in the NFL games, making it the highest total audience for Week 1 slate since 2019.

Speaker 1:

I wonder what the reason is. I wonder it's not because of Kansas City? Not one team. No, it's not. It's 2019. I wonder what the reason is, I wonder it's not because of Kansas City? Not one team? No, it's not. It's not. It's like every game had an average of 21 million viewers, not just one game.

Speaker 2:

I think it's opened up the world of football to a whole new audience.

Speaker 1:

Could be. I think that's what I think Could be, I don't know, but I didn't watch any. I'm a big high school college fan. I don't watch as much NFL.

Speaker 2:

What's your favorite NFL team?

Speaker 1:

I had to pick one, to be either Tennessee or Atlanta, just because they're close.

Speaker 2:

Atlanta. What Falcons? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah Tennessee.

Speaker 1:

Titans. They both lost, yeah, yeah. So I picked two winners, didn't I?

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

It's got to get better though.

Speaker 2:

Story of your life. Why are you single? Yeah, because I like the Falcons. I guess you just picked the wrong team. So anyway, here's two things to think about today. You know, jet skis.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, I used to have one, my family, I didn't have one.

Speaker 2:

Y'all had one.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, my brother had one.

Speaker 2:

yeah, we had one too when I was little, but I always wondered who named them. Jet skis instead of like boater cycles.

Speaker 1:

You know that's a good point, boater, because it's.

Speaker 2:

That's what they are.

Speaker 1:

They're boater cycles Like a boat. It's a little boat Like a motorcycle.

Speaker 2:

Mixed On water.

Speaker 1:

On water. Yeah, yeah, where did the jet Jet skis come from?

Speaker 2:

Jet ski. I bet whoever came up with that name was like really proud, or really drunk. One of the two. And then this is something that happened to me last night. I was thinking about it and I was like you know what? You know, you're grown up when you pick up the ice cube instead of kicking it under the fridge.

Speaker 1:

You've done that too.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah.

Speaker 1:

That's when, oh yeah you're a grown-up when you're filling up the ice tray and one bounces out. You know who's gonna notice. I mean, here's the foot ways and put it under the fridge.

Speaker 2:

I kind of sometimes still do still do it not, it's 618.

Speaker 3:

WQSB Mornings with Barry and Holly.

Speaker 1:

Since you've been gone, we've been talking about the hurricane which has come ashore, of course, and as we were getting a lot of the remnants here, it was weird seeing some of the wind yesterday.

Speaker 2:

Man, it was yeah, To think that's wind off of the hurricane. What blows my mind is that it came from the like. The wind that I was feeling is wind that crossed the ocean yeah, and that blows my mind.

Speaker 1:

And it traveled all the way up here. It's all part of the system.

Speaker 2:

Are you sure that's how it works?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's all the system. It's been pushing all this stuff over the past few days, and so we were seeing some of the beginnings of the wind yesterday Not hurricane winds, but just stronger winds and now today you're going to see the rain off of this and then possibly storms off the hurricane. It's crazy how that works.

Speaker 2:

Where does wind start?

Speaker 1:

I have no idea. Hold on, hold on. I've got to get my fish on I have no idea when does it start, though? I don't know, I don't know. I was out that day when we were taking. Where does wind start at Crossville?

Speaker 2:

Imagine being the first human to see I know I'm going off track here, but imagine the first human to see wind and be like did you guys see that? No, what was that? What was that? Oh my gosh, you feel that. Did you just blow?

Speaker 1:

in my ear. Ugg, did you just blow in my ear?

Speaker 2:

No, it wasn't me, man, I think it was that dinosaur over there, but imagine the oh my gosh wind. She's got bad T-Rex breath today. Yeah, so, like you were saying, Hurricane Francine isn't. Did we play my music?

Speaker 1:

We did. I was playing while you were chasing that squirrel.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I know it isn't the only storm on the map.

Speaker 1:

Forecasters are tracking four other disturbances across the Atlantic, so we've been quiet for like over a month now.

Speaker 2:

Now all disturbances across the atlantic, so we've been quiet for like over a month now. Now, all of a sudden, we've got five. Yes, yeah and could come this way, but none of them are an immediate threat to land. No, but they are needing to be watched, said the national hurricane center.

Speaker 1:

there's one that's developed into like a tropical situation uh, one of the strongest ones, but there's actually four that could come, like in the gulf or east coast, they don't know. But there's actually four that could come like in the Gulf or East Coast, they don't know, but there's a chance they could build. So four at one time. Oh, that's crazy.

Speaker 2:

Well, the numbers are in. On the Trump-Harris debate Tuesday night, drew in 57.5 million viewers. It was an increase from the Biden-Trump debate based on ABC's figures, and the data covers seven networks and indicates couldn't say that word, a specific.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, go ahead. A significant viewership, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Particularly among adults ages 18 to 54. That's a big age range.

Speaker 1:

A lot of voters right there.

Speaker 2:

Hey, I'm glad the 18-year-olds are watching.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, pay attention, learn from these things and get your own opinion, and if you've never voted before, you need to vote. Regardless of which way you vote, just vote.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Be a voter.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I mean, it's our.

Speaker 1:

I want to say things, but I can't say things, Nope we're not going to be political at all, so just vote for who you feel in your heart.

Speaker 2:

Yes and make sure you vote. You can get registered online and then vote in your area, but you cannot vote if you are not registered.

Speaker 1:

To me. If you don't vote, I don't think you have a right to complain. If you vote, then I hate to hear complaining, but then at least you tried to make a difference. Yeah, at least you tried.

Speaker 2:

Yesterday, the Campbell's Soup Company announces changing the name to the Campbell's Company. I hate this.

Speaker 1:

They probably had like two months of meetings over this. Okay, we're changing the name, guys, so throw out some names. Everybody write the one down and put it in the hat and then they're ready.

Speaker 2:

Now we got the Campbell's Soup Company. What y'all got Ready, go Okay.

Speaker 1:

I like the Campbell's Company.

Speaker 2:

Oh, how original.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so we're going to take this word soup out and put an apostrophe.

Speaker 2:

S on Campbell. That's genius, bob Genius. Give them a promotion. I would like to say that Campbell's is known for its soup, and that makes me sad, but what they're wanting to do is reflect its diverse products beyond soups, and the rebranding aims to showcase the company's new expansion into snacks and other food products. I don't know what Campbell's name is.

Speaker 1:

I don't either. They need to brand harder, because I don't know what else you make. I just know soup, I know Soup. Maybe, they should advertise on QSP.

Speaker 2:

You know what my favorite soup commercial was what? When the little boy was outside playing and he turned into a snowman.

Speaker 1:

And then he came in and his mama made him a warm bowl of chicken noodle soup and he melted. Is that the one that's good? Good, that state yeah, see, that's how you brand, yeah. Yeah, they shouldn't drop the word soup, but that's what they're famous for the campbell soup company. Now they dropped the word soup well, they want you to know.

Speaker 2:

They're in snacks. Now they're in the snack. Tell me what else you got.

Speaker 1:

Don't just make me wonder now I don't know All right, 631.

Speaker 3:

Mornings with Barry and Holly here on Alabama's country giant WQSB.

Speaker 1:

Time for Holly's pile of stories and you were watching the MTV Video Music Awards last night. So you're telling me Taylor Swift was a big winner last night.

Speaker 2:

She was the top winner. She earned seven trophies out of 12 nominations and she passed Beyonce's total career VMAs which she won 25, with a total of Taylor having 30.

Speaker 1:

Whoa. So she's taken the lead and just blown Beyonce away then with 30 total awards.

Speaker 2:

Which is so scandalous. I bet Kanye West is just fighting himself. Oh, he wants to rush the stage again. Punch in the air, take the trophies out of our hands. Taylor Swift, who also won Artist of the Year, is the first artist to win Video of the Year five times Wow, and this time it was for Fortnite.

Speaker 1:

I saw the video. It was weird. It was good, but it was weird.

Speaker 2:

It wasn't weird the video. It was weird, it was good but it was weird.

Speaker 1:

It wasn't weird, it was beautiful, it was artistic. I'm sorry I've offended you now I mean a little, I've stepped on your taylor.

Speaker 2:

Swift video feelings don't slip on my taylor toes. These taylor toes are fragile apparently they're very sensitive. She's my favorite, I know I'm not saying I share the same political views as her I get it completely okay, yeah I've got to tell you this story. It's going to take me a minute to get through it, but this is really important.

Speaker 1:

It is. It's a serious note, it's a good feel-good story.

Speaker 2:

It really, really is. So if you're a fan of Bon Jovi, I'm about to make you an even bigger fan.

Speaker 1:

I love Bon Jovi.

Speaker 2:

Well, and if you don't like, bon Jovi himself helped stop a woman from jumping off a bridge in Nashville on Tuesday to kill herself.

Speaker 1:

This is the cool one.

Speaker 2:

Yes, they were filming a music video and Bon Jovi noticed a woman on the bridge and she looked like she was about to jump. So, alongside another pedestrian, he successfully talked her out of it and guided her back to safety over the railing. Yes, then emergency responders arrived at the scene and they all cheered for Bon Jovi and his intervention with this, because he saved her life.

Speaker 1:

I didn't realize that. The story says he's actually had training for this. Yeah, he has a foundation that helps people with mental issues and that's part of his training.

Speaker 2:

And I love that.

Speaker 1:

I love that. I love that, yes, that that's such a good thing.

Speaker 2:

So I mean john bon jovi. How many people can say I saved a life today?

Speaker 1:

that's got to make you feel good gotta make you feel good.

Speaker 2:

Yep, las vegas is the place for all the music stars billy joel's concert residency at the garden, and guess how much?

Speaker 1:

this blows my mind because you know the residency is the big thing now. Yeah, oh yeah, to have a residency you stay in this one spot to do concerts for like months and then they make millions and I didn't realize you could make this much money.

Speaker 2:

Billy Joel earned $266 million over 104 shows Wow. So he began his residency at Madison Square Garden back in 2014. Celine Dion has the top two residencies of all times. I would love to see that by the way, oh my gosh, earning her a total of almost $600 million $600 million. Just a little chunk change.

Speaker 1:

Unbelievable.

Speaker 2:

Yeah 653,.

Speaker 1:

Your birthdays are next.

Speaker 3:

WQSB Mornings with Barry and Holly.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, the Bon Jovi story. If you missed it, John Bon Jovi, he was in Nashville filming a video, I'm guessing for Bon Jovi. I don't know what the video was, but it's on the famous bridge. It's like the pedestrian bridge If you've ever been to Nashville, it's kind of at the end of you know, or a music row, that kind of thing, Broadway, in the Broadway.

Speaker 1:

You can see it. A lot of videos have been filmed there. He was up there and he noticed, and a friend of his noticed, that there was somebody standing on the bridge, kind of over the I guess you say the security area, on the very edge, like they were about to jump. Yes, and they, john Bon Jovi and the friend, walked over and basically talked the person down and kept them from jumping and possibly killing themselves.

Speaker 2:

Wow.

Speaker 1:

So his move. Some people might have been afraid to do something, stood there, did nothing, waited for police, but it might have been too late. But they took action and saved the person's life.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, like you said, it's neat because he was trained in this.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and what's weird is, if you go back to Bon Jovi's music, being serious on this, there's a line in one of his songs that kind of talks about what he just did, because he even walks over to them and helps them. And here's the line Take my hand, we'll make it, I swear. Oh, living on a prayer. Take my hand, we'll make it, I swear.

Speaker 2:

Living on a prayer.

Speaker 1:

And that's what he did, wow.

Speaker 1:

Mark Turman gave her his hand and pulled her over. Yeah, wow, that is, that's awesome, that's good. So, hey, speaking of awesome, time to announce our latest student athletes of the week, and congratulations to Ava Roden. Ava is a cheerleader and plays flag football at Boaz High School, and I understand, ava, you have a very good grade point average, so you are the female student athlete of the week. Congratulations to you, ava. And then there's Jake Jones, jake from Sconsborough High School. Jake plays football, has a grade point average over 3.0. And you are the male student athlete of the week and you're both going to receive our student athlete trophy and station T-shirt, and this award is brought to you by our friends at Mike Richards Automotive, bring your Own Bidget Retail and Alabama's Country Giant, of course, wqsb. So way to go, ava and Jake. We'll have your pictures on our Facebook page coming up very soon.

Speaker 2:

They're already up. Yep way to go, carson. Thank you very much, carson.

Speaker 1:

So the pictures are up. Okay, we're going back over some of the things people seem to like on the morning show and it's overwhelming how people love your jokes, Especially at this time. Kids are in the car. Oh yeah, on the way to school, and maybe they've had a rough night, maybe they just don't want to go to school.

Speaker 1:

That's most kids, yes, and they need to smile, they need to laugh, yeah. So you're doing your best to find some good jokes that the kids can take with them, family can take with them. A lot of people call these dad jokes. I guess you would say so, are you ready?

Speaker 2:

I'm ready, are you?

Speaker 1:

Yep, I'm ready. It's Holly's 710. We're now calling it the Joke Extravaganza.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I didn't know that. Official title.

Speaker 1:

Yes, and since today is National Chocolate Milkshake Day, we thought if you could find, maybe give us a triple serving of food.

Speaker 2:

jokes a triple serving of food jokes. Is that possible? Yeah, I can do that.

Speaker 1:

Okay, give us your first one.

Speaker 2:

All right, let me think.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Why should you always knock before opening the fridge door? I?

Speaker 1:

don't know.

Speaker 2:

In case there's a salad dressing.

Speaker 1:

In case there's a salad dressing. Yeah, you don't want to embarrass the salad do you, you don't want to embarrass the salad. Okay, so what else?

Speaker 2:

What did one pickle say to the other pickle?

Speaker 1:

I have no idea.

Speaker 2:

Deal with it. Good one.

Speaker 1:

Okay, one last one for the road. Okay, this one's my favorite, I love this one.

Speaker 2:

What did the lettuce say to the celery?

Speaker 1:

I have no idea.

Speaker 2:

Stop stalking me Stop stalking me.

Speaker 1:

Good one, good one. So there you have it, the jokes of the day, and now the quote of the day. Now, this actually comes from you. You wrote this yeah, this is.

Speaker 2:

I found this in my notes yesterday I was cleaning out my computer and I had written this and I thought you know what this might help somebody.

Speaker 1:

Okay. So I guess you had going through something and you thought, okay, this might it helps me, so maybe it'll help you oh yeah, well, I'll read the quote and then I'll talk about it.

Speaker 2:

But the quote is failure is an event, it's not a person.

Speaker 1:

Failure is only final if you quit that's a very deep thought, and you're right.

Speaker 2:

Uh, failure is not a person, it's something that happens yeah, and I think there's so many things in life, especially especially when you become a parent, that you have guilt about or that you think you're failing or you're not doing the right thing. There is not a point in parenthood where you think you know what, I am on top of my game and I'm doing the best ever. You always feel like you're lacking in some Most people. Do you always feel like you're lacking in some most people? Do you always feel like you're lacking in some areas? And I think it's important to know that failure is not you as a person. Failure is an event, but even then, failure is not final.

Speaker 1:

No, you can get past this and move on and turn failure into a success.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

Like sports, we're talking about our student athletes. You may lose a game Friday night. You may lose a game. It doesn't mean that you're a loser, it just means your team lost. But you can get back at it and try again next week.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's only final if you quit.

Speaker 1:

Yep Never give up, all right. 7-16.

Speaker 3:

Speaker 4:

Come on, bentley. Come on, it's peanut butter jelly time.

Speaker 1:

Well, speaking of peanuts, I'll be darned. How about a story about peanuts Planners? I love Planners, Peanuts.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah.

Speaker 1:

And they have something new. It's the new special reserve peanuts. If you consider yourself a peanut connoisseur, I love peanuts.

Speaker 2:

I knew you would use the word connoisseur here.

Speaker 1:

Had to work it in there. I know you don't get to use it very often no, but I probably am a peanut connoisseur.

Speaker 2:

You look like you are Thank you, but I don't know how to take that.

Speaker 1:

Well, you look kind of nutty, but there's a new Planners Special Reserve Peanuts Limited Edition coming out. They're arriving tomorrow at most stores. By the way, tomorrow is National Peanut Day. It's also Friday, the 13th, so how are these different from other peanuts? According to planners, the special reserve peanuts are specially grown on limited acreage in Virginia to be larger than a standard peanut. They're hand-cooked and seasoned for a balanced flavor with a special profile of salt, crunch and creaminess. Does peanut have creaminess? Peanut butter does?

Speaker 2:

I mean it does once you chew it up.

Speaker 1:

Oh, I don't know. Okay, well, there's a limited number of Planner Special Reserve Peanuts. It's a special box. Looking at the box here.

Speaker 2:

That's ridiculous.

Speaker 1:

You can get these at MrPeanutsSpecialReservecom starting at 9 o'clock tomorrow. It's about oh, it's $19.06. Why? Because that's the year Planners Peanuts was started.

Speaker 2:

I'm not paying $20 for a can of peanuts.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm not either. No, I don't care what kind of special reserve Reserve.

Speaker 2:

Special reserve yeah, no.

Speaker 1:

Peanut connoisseur A peanut is a peanut is a peanut. Yep yeah, they're all good.

Speaker 2:

They're all good. Them love peanuts. Well, popeye's just released a dessert option in. This is in puerto rico. Yeah, you can get a biscuit with a squirt of ice cream on it and then it has toppings like chocolate, strawberry, caramel, peanuts and oreos. So you got a biscuit that's glazed and then you've got the soft serve on top sprinkled with the choice of toppings I don't think I want that on a biscuit.

Speaker 1:

No.

Speaker 2:

I don't want ice cream.

Speaker 1:

Jelly, yes, maybe some honey, some syrup, but not gravy, not ice cream.

Speaker 2:

No, I would definitely take gravy over ice cream.

Speaker 1:

They can keep those in Puerto Rico, mm-hmm yeah.

Speaker 2:

And you know how we went. Okay, so yesterday we went and saw Beetlejuice.

Speaker 1:

We did, because you've been dying to see it.

Speaker 2:

I've been dying to see it and we thought you know what we'll do a movie review Because it had such mixed reviews. We were like we've got to see what all this talk is about. What did you think about it?

Speaker 1:

I liked it. I liked the original.

Speaker 2:

I really liked it.

Speaker 1:

I liked the original better, but still I liked the new one. It's quirky, it's odd, it's unusual, it's different and it's about Michael Keaton. I wish we had more Michael Keaton Beetlejuice in it.

Speaker 5:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

But so I thought Jenna Ortega was very good in it.

Speaker 2:

Oh, she was so good.

Speaker 1:

Winona Ryder. I thought great cast Catherine O'Hara. It's just weird. I love her. It's different Some people. Either you hate it or you love it. It was a good movie.

Speaker 2:

I loved it actually, yeah, I did Well. Amc movie theaters are introducing a tie-in with a drink. It's called the Sandworm Slayer.

Speaker 1:

There's a sandworm in the movie and it has.

Speaker 2:

It's like a hand puppet it plays a big part at the end it's blue and black raspberry juice, vodka and sour gummy worms on top. But here's where the controversy is Okay $31. For a drink. For a drink $31.

Speaker 1:

Popcorn that's about the average price for a bag of popcorn, really. Well, you could get a Think about it.

Speaker 2:

Listen, I got to tell people about this deal. At Lucas Cinemas you can buy a bucket of popcorn for $20 and then refill it as much as you want for $4.50.

Speaker 1:

That's a good deal. That's a good deal, yeah, but I wouldn't pay $31 for this. Beetlejuice drink.

Speaker 2:

Now it looks great. The blue and black raspberry juice looks good. And then they put the vodka and sour gummy worms on it. But $31 was too much, so they changed the price to $21. Oh, they cut the price.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's going fast, though I yeah it's going fast on, I'll pass it's 727.

Speaker 3:

Barry and Holly on Alabama's Country, Giant WQSB. Come on, man.

Speaker 1:

Hey, a couple of stories, real quick one. Have you seen the picture, the video of the plane crashing on the golf course?

Speaker 2:

I saw that.

Speaker 1:

Two people walked away slightly injured. It's a Denver area golf course. Denver area golf course and of all places, the single engine airplane with two people on board crashed upside down on the golf course near the seventh hole tee box and there were people out there on the golf course. Whoa, that could have been a bad situation. They said they were trying to find a place to land it. They saw the golf course. I'm sure the golf course people are really happy with them because it messed up part of the golf course. But at least everybody is okay.

Speaker 2:

I mean, if you've got to land, you've got to land and then worry about what's Sure, but the plane is upside down.

Speaker 1:

It's amazing, nobody was injured.

Speaker 2:

It looks like a cockroach Dad. That's what it did, cockroach.

Speaker 1:

But the picture's on her Facebook. And then another one. We found this a few days ago. I'm still curious on why the pineapple. Why the pineapple? But the big thing in Spain now Spain grocery stores, Not just Spain, but apparently it's bigger in Spain than it is everywhere else.

Speaker 2:

I was telling you this. Okay, so I have heard of people doing this locally. Okay, I worked at Jefferson's.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I was the bar manager.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I heard lots of stories, so it's been around for a while, but it's really big. In spain right now. What happens is people grocery shopping. There's a certain time between like 7 and 8 and 9 pm that shoppers who are single, who are single, go to the grocery store. They get their cart and they go place a pineapple upside down in the shopping cart. This serves as a signal to other single shoppers, or maybe those who aren't single Don't know that they're open to chat, and maybe more because of the upside down. Okay, why does it have to be upside down?

Speaker 2:

Let me Google it. Hold on, give me enough time to Google I know there's like what?

Speaker 1:

pineapple upside down cake. I've had that before. Experts are not sure how the new trend decided on using a pineapple of all the fruits available. It says that nobody really knows the reason this started. It just started.

Speaker 2:

It says the pineapple represents hospitality and welcoming. Oh Okay, so pineapples are placed on a porch or a mailbox or a camper.

Speaker 1:

Really I'm so serious. So more than just a shopping cart.

Speaker 2:

Way more. I'm telling you, like, if you ever see a pineapple upside down, that means somebody wants to hook up. That's the thing. That's what it is. I'm going to call a spade a spade. Yeah, and it's weird and I don't understand it, but that's just the message. We're part of the club Gotcha and it's not just for single people it's like not just for single people.

Speaker 1:

It's for married people. Oh, my goodness, I'm gonna get one and swang and tape it to scott's bumper.

Speaker 2:

No chambers, atley I thought, when you said I'm gonna get one, I thought, okay, no, not me because he'll never even know it's there.

Speaker 1:

It'd be one of everybody's blowing the horn at him and flashing phone numbers. Yeah, flashing period. He'll love it if he knows that's the case, that'll be the best thing that's ever happened to him.

Speaker 2:

He'll have pineapples.

Speaker 1:

He'll be like spongebob driving down the road. He'll have pineapples all over his car.

Speaker 3:

That's gonna get him lucky. Yeah, it's 7 39 wqsb mornings with barry and holly good day to learn.

Speaker 1:

So what you got for us today?

Speaker 2:

Okay, I have a wallet is the top gift women buy when they don't know what to get the man in their life.

Speaker 1:

Wow, why do you go for that I?

Speaker 2:

don't I go for cologne.

Speaker 1:

Cologne yeah, okay, I go for the wallet.

Speaker 2:

The wallet, yeah, because I never know what kind of scent they would like. Yeah, I just pick out what I like. If it's a man that I'm buying a gift for, it's going to be somebody I'm close to. Yes, I don't just give out gifts. You know what I mean, I know. So I would pick out what I like and then hopefully they like it too.

Speaker 1:

You know, more men have quit using wallets. They use little clips. Clips, I've noticed.

Speaker 2:

You carry Reed's wallet.

Speaker 1:

I do.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, every day.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's my wallet so nobody buy Barry a wallet ever Don't need one. I'll never use it, never use it. It'll go in a drawer. Sure will Along with the rest of it. I'll just buy him some cologne. Yeah, I'll trade you that for some cologne, as they.

Speaker 2:

Let me ask you this has anybody ever bought you a wallet?

Speaker 1:

Nope, not that I can think I'm sad, it is yeah.

Speaker 2:

Sorry, I'm glad you brought it up, poor Barry.

Speaker 1:

Thank you for bringing up depression. Thank you so much, Holly's Knowledge. Depression Nuggets. Thank you so much. I was having a good day too. You reminded me that nobody's ever given me one.

Speaker 2:

That don't mean anything. Well, according to this it's a topic that women buy. I've never had flowers delivered.

Speaker 1:

Oh, this at the top to get the women by.

Speaker 2:

I've never had flowers delivered. Oh yeah, I've never had flowers delivered.

Speaker 2:

You said you hate to change that well, it's because they just die and they're so expensive. And so I feel guilty about anybody spending money on flowers. But they're so pretty, they are, but they're great in your day, they're so expensive, and then there's pressure to take care of them. Yeah, but you wouldn't be the one buying them for yourself Somebody else. My birthday's in March. We can talk about it then, okay. Okay, 41 is the average age when people start taking vitamins in order to get healthier 41. 41. All the way up to 41. I think because when you're in your 40s year, 40, you're in denial. I think because when you're in your 40s year, 40, you're in denial.

Speaker 1:

Year 41,. You're in acceptance of ah, I'm over the hill, I'm downhill. Got to do something to slow down this train. Yeah, I think so what do you think? I always thought when I'd see vitamins in the house okay, that's some older people taking them. I'd always see mother and daddy's vitamins. I think, okay, it's what older people but everybody needs them really, Even kids.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'd say, definitely 40 years old, you start looking, trying to get healthier. Yeah, it's kind of like when you stop abusing your body, like all the things that young people do, and you Try to fix it, try to repair it, you try to reverse what you've done for the last 20 years.

Speaker 1:

Put the body into the shop and put it on the rack. Reverse what you've done for the last 20 years Put the body into the shop and put it on the rack. There you go.

Speaker 2:

Get the oil change and get some vitamins 22% of what if they sold vitamins at oil change shops?

Speaker 1:

Wouldn't that be a weird matchup. That's good, yeah.

Speaker 2:

That's like Hardee's in a gas station. I pulled in one of those the other day. It was weird. Yeah no, buy an oil, chance, we'll give you a free bottle of vitamin 22% of people say it's okay to have garlic breath and if someone complains about it they should just back up. Ooh yeah, 22%.

Speaker 1:

I kind of like that attitude. Yeah, just back.

Speaker 2:

Hey, if you don't like my garlic breath, I have coffee breath right now. Okay, don't get close enough, so you can smell it.

Speaker 1:

See, if you say you got bad breath, I say, well, just back it up, back it on up yeah. You've got other kind of breath. But I won't go into detail.

Speaker 2:

Oh my.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, like you've been following the boss around. Oh, barry, yeah, you know what I'm saying. Yeah, all right, all right. Thanks, rachel. Oh, that's what the preacher's coming in, isn't he?

Speaker 2:

Yes, oh, that's not the preacher's coming in, isn't he?

Speaker 1:

Yes, my pastor's coming in at 8.10. And I talked about butt kissing. I am so sorry.

Speaker 2:

He is probably listening. And, pastor John, this was not my, I did not go down this road, this is not the road I have gone down.

Speaker 1:

No, but you do have garlic breath.

Speaker 2:

No coffee, coffee breath, yeah, coffee breath.

Speaker 1:

All right, all right, 7.55.

Speaker 3:

Mornings with Barry and Hall here on Alabama's country giant WQSB.

Speaker 1:

Looks like most of us should be out of here. I know John's hoping so. We're hoping so because something big's coming up in this area.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, rain or shine, though we're going to be out there as long as they let us.

Speaker 5:

Look, lord Jesus is going to make sure it shines and we're going to have the best time ever loving on our community on Sunday afternoon.

Speaker 1:

Yes, that's the famous voice of John Henderson, one of our special guests. We love having you. When you come in, you know there's something big going on in this community. There's always something big going on. Absolutely Something really special this Sunday night and thank you for all that you do with Compassion. I know you were here. What was it? The haircuts, Uh-huh.

Speaker 2:

Compassionate cuts About a month or so ago. Yeah, they provided free haircuts for any school-age kid in August.

Speaker 1:

How did that go by the way?

Speaker 5:

Oh, it went fantastic, one of the biggest years we've ever had. We have so many incredible people of this community that serve, and it wasn't just people at Compassion City Church that's the location we have it at, but we had cutters and salons from everywhere. Come in, and next year is going to be our biggest year yet. We've made some other partnerships after this year and we just want to do whatever we can to love on our community.

Speaker 5:

One of the things that I always drive home to our church is that we are there for the community. The community is not there for us, and so we need to be reaching out and always finding ways to serve our community and make this place a better place, because we think, even though we want to make it a better place, that this is the best place that we could live on planet earth. We love our community, we, we love every. We love what you guys do here and and, uh, everybody's our neighbor around here and we love all our surrounding churches as well. Shout out to all the pastors and all the other churches. There's so many churches in the city of Averville and on Sand Mountain that do so many great things for so many people, and we're just blessed to be a part of that. We're all one church. We just made it different locations under different names, but we're one church at the end of the day.

Speaker 1:

So it's 10 years anniversary.

Speaker 5:

That's amazing 10 years, 10 years, 10 years since Compassion City Church launched. It seems like it happened yesterday, yeah, but this 10 years has flown by and we have just been so blessed that this community has allowed us to serve them. And that's what we want to say is thank you to the city of Albertville, thank you to Sand Mountain, thank you. We want to say is thank you to the city of albertville, thank you to sand mountain, thank you for allowing us to serve you and be a part of this great community let me, let me ask you this when you first started 10 years ago, you're up to three services now, did you?

Speaker 1:

what was your dream then? Like maybe? So here's what I really thought 50 people look, I started in his house yeah yeah, it's crazy, but here's what I honestly thought.

Speaker 5:

I didn't want to do it, but I knew the Lord was calling me to do it and you know it wasn't an option for me. So I thought really you know, we'll do it, it'll fail and then I can go back to whatever I was doing at the time and I'm just as surprised. But my testimony and what I want everybody to know is god can use anybody. It's not about me, it's not about compassion, city church. It's about jesus can take anybody from anywhere and do anything with them if they're just willing to be obedient, right and get past themselves and trust him.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, what 10 years. And now you got something special coming up this sunday, and it's again. It's not just for your, absolutely not everybody listening right now it's for everybody listening right now.

Speaker 5:

It's for everybody listening. We just want to offer up a way to say thank you to the community. So we'll be at the Sand Mountain Park Amphitheater and from 5 to 6.30, we're going to have Family Fun, fellowship and Playtables. On the inside. We're going to be giving away free ice cream. Oh yeah to to everybody. Also, we're gonna.

Speaker 5:

One of the other things we're gonna be doing that we're really excited about is uh, we ordered a truckload of bibles, oh and uh. So we've got over a thousand bibles that we want to give away, and it's not just to people who don't have a bible. We want to challenge people to get a bible with somebody in mind and go put the Word of God in their hands. Great idea. And so that was a vision of one of the ladies in our church, and she said what do you think about us doing this? And we're passionate that God's Word transforms lives, and so we want to get the hope of Jesus in the hands of people. And sure, they probably have all have access to a bible. But, man, it's really intentional when we take one and we say I thought about you and I want you to have this that's great.

Speaker 5:

So it's also going to be like a music, so at seven o'clock so, uh, I got excited about the bible part all right, you should be From 5 to 6.30, family fun, all that, and then at 7, we'll transition. We're going to have a night of worship and then we're going to close everything out with a fireworks show at the end.

Speaker 5:

And the same group that shoots fireworks. If you've been to a Trash Panda game, that same company will be here shooting the fireworks for us to close the night out, so it's not just like Jamie's Sinners out there.

Speaker 2:

No, the state would not allow that to happen. We actually had to get state permits and all this.

Speaker 5:

It was a bigger deal than I thought, so Jamie got cut out of the mix on this one. Sorry, jamie, we had to go to the professionals for this one Good.

Speaker 1:

He'd have pickled eggs involved in it, somehow, I'm sure, or peanuts Exactly.

Speaker 5:

But we are so looking forward just to bringing our community together and any pastors I want to say thank you to all our pastors in surrounding churches. These guys work so hard, so hard. And what I love to see, and what happens in our community that a lot of people don't see, is there's some areas that we've been called to serve, in that we get to meet needs, but there's so many other churches and so many groups and your church, barry, and all these different groups groups. They're doing things that we can't do. We can't do everything, but each of us can pick something we can do for the kingdom and for our community and I think we've got some of the best surrounding church family of any community. I'm a little biased to this area, but I've really been all around and I uh, our unity in this community is, uh, second to none I agree.

Speaker 1:

anything that is ever in need of any type, whether it's blood or money or dog food, anything that we do for St Jude, the community always steps up and goes above and beyond.

Speaker 5:

Absolutely, absolutely, and I'm just proud to be a small part of it, and it's the people of the community. You know, it is the people of this community. Shout out to all our church members and all our churches for what you do, that you have made avertville truly a special place to live.

Speaker 2:

That's the reason why this is the heart of sand mountain yeah, yeah, I'm really excited about this and I think I really want to emphasize on it's not just compassion city church members. This is for I know we've said it before, but I want to reiterate, this is for everybody in the listening area If you're flying in, we'll come pick you up from the airport. We've got a church van. Amen, we'll shuttle you.

Speaker 5:

This is a community event and I don't think you know when all the kids are at home as parents, there's nothing more special when we bring all our kids together.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, right.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, because it doesn't happen that much when we get older, sometimes just two times a year. You're right. Thanksgiving and Christmas, yeah, well, as happy as it makes us as parents, imagine how the father feels when he looks down and sees all his children not dividing over church names and just coming together to lift up his name, and how happy he is when all his kids are together.

Speaker 2:

That gives me chills. Yeah, I love that. I've never thought of it that way.

Speaker 1:

True, so give them the details. Sunday, beginning at 5 o'clock.

Speaker 5:

This Sunday, beginning at 5 o'clock. Come out, bring your family, your kids, and we're just going to love and have a time of fellowship. But also there'll be inflatables for the kids and games and stuff for us to do ice cream water.

Speaker 2:

And this is a free event.

Speaker 5:

This is a totally free event. If you do want a full meal, they will have the concession stands open. Sure San Martin Park will, by the way, shout out to them. They do such a great job over there. All the people at San Martin Park are amazing to work with. We're so blessed to have a facility like that in our community, so thank you to all our city officials that worked so hard to get it here. We're just so blessed. But it's a free event. 5 to 6.30,. We're going to have fun with our families and fellowship, and then we'll transition at 7, and we'll kick off a night of worship. And, uh, there may be some other things in the mix that'll be a surprise that night as well. So please come out and join us and just have a good time, and I know the weather's going to be perfect. Yep, it is.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, it's going to clear up well, I'm going to be there for sure. I'm so excited and I invited barry yesterday at lunch to come and he said I'm excited. I can't wait yeah he was like I don't go to Compassion and I said no, this is for everybody. He said, oh, I'm in.

Speaker 1:

Where do you go, Barry? Life Point.

Speaker 5:

That's what I was thinking. So you're part of an amazing church. We do so much with Life Point and so really I celebrate LifePoint Me and Matt was talking the other day. He's pastored for three, covered three different decades.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he's an old guy. He's in his 50s, I think now.

Speaker 5:

So shout out to those guys we love them. They're brothers of ours in ministry and we just want to celebrate Jesus most of all, and the people of our community for letting us serve them.

Speaker 1:

Well, thank you for what you do and we'll be there Sunday night, john Henderson Compassion City Church. Always a pleasure to have you with us.

Speaker 5:

Hey, always blessed to get to come in and spend time with you guys and thank you for all you do for our community as well.

Speaker 1:

We love the people. It's what keeps us on the air. It's the people. All right, thanks, john. All right, if you need more details, call us here at WQSB.

Speaker 3:

Baring and hauling on Alabama's country giant WQSB.

Speaker 1:

Morning's crime story. It's a good crime story that nothing happened here but the Royal National Lifeboat Institution crew in England there's a name, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution crew, basically like their Coast Guard.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

They responded to a report of a stranded person in the water. They quickly got there and found out it was a training dummy that was left there by one of their fellow crews. Oh, somebody's in trouble, they were training and lost it or left it somehow, and there was a dummy out there floating around. Somebody had left it. Oh, no, yeah. So they took a picture, basically in fun, to call out one of their crews and said hey, just want you to know that whichever crew left your, your dummy in the water, we found him and he's okay oh my gosh yeah, by the name.

Speaker 2:

His name is friend oh, okay, well you got. I mean, you have to name your dummy you do kind of like beetlejuice yes with some of the ones bob or bob.

Speaker 1:

I know hate to be a spoiler, but bob doesn't make it through the entire movie uh, why did you pull it?

Speaker 2:

well, I was heartbroken when that happened. I know it's like traumatized you were yeah, and I did a audible gas.

Speaker 1:

I went oh, bob bob, he's gone yeah, but anyway they put up a post and saying hey, by the way, we found your dummy. That left the dummy in the water. That would be scary, because if you just in your boat you look and see something floating.

Speaker 2:

Yeah that's a human, yeah because it looks like a human yeah, well, I mean, I'm glad that it's not a human, but wouldn't you hate to be the guy that left the dummy out in the water?

Speaker 1:

yeah, there's probably one guy. Your job is to be sure you put all the stuff back and we're out there finishing training.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And you left Fred out in the water.

Speaker 2:

Like dummy check I got Bob, I got Jeff.

Speaker 1:

Anybody seen Fred?

Speaker 2:

Where's Fred? I don't know I don't know man, he made his sink to the bottom.

Speaker 1:

I don't.

Speaker 3:

Well, he'll turn up, and he did. At least your other crew found him. Yeah, it's 831.

Speaker 1:

Wqsb Mornings with Barry and Holly. A couple of feel-good stories, really. How about Kane Brown? I love this story. Let's talk about the story Kane Brown. He was in concert at Denver's Coors Field on Friday and the story says he stopped the show because he spotted a young man, a young fan, in the crowd holding up a sign.

Speaker 1:

we're doing more of this, so that's the big thing now taking signs to shows oh yeah because if you put, I guess, the right thing on there and it catches their attention, they may point you out and say something and maybe do something nice for you yeah.

Speaker 2:

So what did the sign say?

Speaker 1:

uh, the sign little boy. It said he was in the middle of a song. Good, good as you. He saw the little boy with the crowd and he held up the sign. It says well, basically, he wanted a hug. He says bullied for the color of my skin, I just want a hug from Kane Brown. Oh, that's pitiful. So Kane brought the little boy up on stage, gave him a hug and finished singing the song. Wow, it made an impression on Cain by seeing this. He shared a photo of him and the young fan on Instagram and Cain's post said Be yourself, don't worry about others, but also try and be kind. Treat others how you would want to be treated. So what do you think about that?

Speaker 2:

I think that's really special. I think it's sad that in today's world, in 2024, a child is bullied because of the color of their skin, and I could get up on a whole soapbox about this and take up the rest of the 15 minutes of the morning show talking about this. That is ridiculous.

Speaker 5:

It is.

Speaker 2:

It starts at home. It does. We have to teach our children to love every color, every race, every culture, you know, and so, anyway, I think that's awesome that he I'm looking at the picture he handmade this. He did Like he put a lot of time into this.

Speaker 1:

Sure did.

Speaker 2:

And he thought to himself maybe Kane will see this. And it paid off. And it worked? Yeah, it worked.

Speaker 1:

So it's got to maybe give him some confidence, help him feel better.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he just wanted a hug.

Speaker 1:

That's got to maybe give him some confidence, have him feel better. Yeah, he just wanted a hug. That's all Speaking of good things that country music singers are doing. Keith Urban had an interview over the weekend. I played this for you. He was doing an interview. It's a podcast. He was talking about mental wealth not health, but wealth and Keith says he has had struggles in his lifetime and he was asked basically to share his thoughts on his life struggles and challenges, because he's overcome a lot dealing with alcoholism, drugs. He checked him in stuff into a rehab back when he had Nicole Kidman first got married. He wanted this marriage to work, so he checked himself in to get everything and she stood right beside him. Yeah, but he's had a chance to talk about this and he puts it so well because here's what keith had to say the idea that man I, I should have done this years ago, I would have had a better life.

Speaker 4:

I'm like, well, there might be a bit of life ahead of you, which, yeah, that could be better if you deal with it now, and it's never too late. But asking for help is probably number one. I often say what it is that I need to hear and I don't even realize it. And it could be something as simple as this you have an incredibly stressful week, is just too much going on, spinning too many plates, too many people to take care of, too much stuff going on and you scream to yourself I can't handle this, and it's almost like the universe goes. Finally, you recognize that you can't handle this. You're not meant to. Are you asking for any help Because it's too much for you? You even just said it, but I'll be like I can't handle this, but then I don't ask for help. So I even said the words. The words were there, trying to have me hear them. So sometimes that answer is right there in front of us. We just have to learn to hear it and see it.

Speaker 2:

That's so cool, I love that it reminds me of a quote I saw on Facebook yesterday. It said butterflies don't fly in the rain because the water will damage their wings. They rest while the storm until the storm passes. Very good and they will fly again, yeah, so I love that.

Speaker 1:

If you're going through a hard time, just know it passes, tom passes, and yeah, and it's okay to talk to somebody and say I'm not okay and ask for help. Ask for help it's okay, like he said, yeah, you're not gonna get unless you ask for it. And sometimes you get the help you need and you can do better to move on.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, all right, it's 8 46 mornings with barry and holly here on alabama's country giant wqsb and the morning is quote of the day.

Speaker 1:

And this is a special one because this is something that Holly wrote you thought of a few days ago.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, actually two years ago.

Speaker 1:

Two years ago. Yeah, I just found it a couple days ago. Oh, okay, gotcha.

Speaker 2:

Wrote it two years ago just riding down the road. I used to have a podcast of my own and it was focused on mental health. And I wanted to have a podcast of my own and it was focused on mental health and I wanted to encourage others. So it says failure is an event, not a person. Failure is only final if you quit.

Speaker 1:

It tells me to never give up.

Speaker 2:

It just means don't give up, and it doesn't mean that it's who you are as a person. If you have failure, come to you. It just means that it's an event you're going through and you will get out on the other side.

Speaker 1:

Sure, once you give up, you have a chance of having failed. Yeah, but that's nothing. That's not you that's failed. This is whatever you're trying to do, whether it's, say, a job, you're playing football, you're playing whatever sport, and if you lose a game, you just lose a game. It doesn't mean you lost, you're a loser. This means you just didn't win that time. But don't give up. You try again next time.

Speaker 2:

Yep, because you are.

Speaker 1:

Job is the same way. You may have a bad day at work, you may have something you're supposed to be doing and you just can't do it right and you need help.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Don't be afraid to ask for help.

Speaker 2:

Yep, it's only final if you quit.

Speaker 1:

It's true, yep, it's 855. Barry and Holly on.
