There's a 70% chance of showers and storms. So this song is basically a lie, mr Blue Sky. Mr Blue Sky Not today, unless you call the rain blue, but anyway. A lot of rain moving in. It's now moving into Coleman County and Blount County. A lot of rain coming up out of the west. Now this has nothing to do with the tropical storm which will become a hurricane very soon. This is going to be a fast-moving storm. We're going to talk about that in a few minutes. It's like one of the first storms that's. I guess this thing's exploded in just a matter of like hours and a day or two and turning into a hurricane.

Speaker 1No, no, no, we're going to see some of the rain off of it like Friday morning, but hopefully it's going to be out of here by Friday night, by game time.

Sure do so. Last night he took home the top prize. He won agt. He beat out nine other finalists, including the runner-up, the performing duo from israel and the dog act the dog act.
Speaker 1The dog where the drones. They didn't even make the final two.

Speaker 1The Drone Act was the most amazing act I've seen, possibly ever, on the show.

Speaker 1And they did all kinds of things in the sky that you should. I would go to Vegas to watch. I would also I would not go to Vegas to watch Richard. I like Richard. What he did is amazing. I'm not knocking the guy, but he's not the best and that makes me lose credibility with AGT because he was not the best on the show. There were other ones that did amazing things, like the Balancing Act, guys, the family, whatever People sitting on their heads.
Speaker 1The sand magic guy, yes, but the drone act, in my opinion, should have won. But Richard, nothing against Richard, but he wins a million dollars. I mean way to go, richard. It's a great story, singing janitor.

Hurricane Forecast and Coca-Cola Discontinuation

Speaker 1I know, but going back to what we were talking about, since you've been gone, the hurricane. Yeah, this is like one of the most unusual aggressive hurricanes in history.
Speaker 2Yeah, I was going to say that they're forecasting this to be one of the most aggressive in hurricane history. The forecast for Helene is to transition Dang. I couldn't get that word out. It's easy for you not to say it's easy for you not to say it's easy for me not to say From a potential tropical cyclone to a Category 3 hurricane appears to be the fastest progression ever predicted.
Speaker 1It's like in a matter of hours.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Because it went from being just a storm to, all of a sudden, tropical depression, then tropical storm, then hurricane, this boom, and then by tomorrow night, then hurricane, this boom, and then by tomorrow night it's going to be already ashore.
Speaker 1God, that's crazy, yeah so florida's big bend again there, that's where it's heading and they're pretty sure they're looking at the correctly now. The big bend they had a hurricane, uh, just weeks ago. Same area again around jacksville's, getting tap. Was going to see a lot of this storm surge, uh, as far as storms, tornadoes, off of the storm, we're going to be on the west side. West is best, east it's bad East is the beast.
Speaker 1East is the least, East is the beast. You're right, Because we'll be on the better side. Georgia, Atlanta will be on the bad side as far as rain and storms. So as far as here, it should be a fast-moving storm by Friday morning. We'll see the effects of it a lot of the wind and the rain. Then hopefully in just a few hours, by, say, early afternoon, it's supposed to hopefully be out of here.

Speaker 2Well, let me move on. Joseph Marr creates sculptures of the female form out of sugar.
Speaker 1Are you familiar with Joseph Marr? No, I'm not. I had to look it up and now my search history on my phone is probably in jeopardy. Uh-oh, uh Now my search history on my phone is probably in jeopardy because I didn't realize he does sculptures mostly of women, with nothing on.
Speaker 2Well, his specialty is nude women.
Speaker 1Made of sugar Sculptures. Made of sugar Sugar sculptures. And now there's a problem.
Speaker 2Yep, because art lovers are trying to lick his work and people just started licking it. This is what he says People just started licking it and.

It was on a WhatsApp. It's a Brad Pitt fan page. These people started and people began joining it because they're fans of Brad Pitt. Then, somewhere along the way, he convinced them that he needs money and they gave him 365 000 why would brad pitt need 195 000?
Speaker 2exactly, exactly come on, people, we gotta, we gotta be smarter than this okay, so you're a fan of like, say, taylor swift.
Speaker 1Yeah, that'd be like her getting on one of these pages and saying, oh, if anybody there could help me, I really need some money, I could really use some money I'd say I love you, taylor, but you don't I've seen how much you've made off the one concert ticket she's a billionaire you're good, but even brad pitt I mean brad pitt first of all.
Speaker 1brad pitt I've always been jealous of the guy. I know you shouldn't be, but he's got the looks and he's got the money and I've got neither. So this guy. Now people are using him online begging for money. Yeah, Using Brad Pitt. What are these women thinking?

I think they are put there for a reason. I really do. Some people in your life are there, but then there's others who are put there for a special reason. And that's why this quote come up. Because you're very good about bragging on me and I appreciate that, because we both have had struggles with depression, things like that, and you've really built me up over the past year, going through a lot of hard times, and I appreciate that You're good about it on the radio. But it has hit me that I don't think we've ever done that enough for you. You don't have to do that for me, we don't have to, but I think there are so many people who love listening to you and I think this quote kind of ties into that. So go ahead and read the quote.
Speaker 2Okay, the quote is there's a purpose for everyone you meet. Some people come into your life to test you, some to teach you and some to bring out the very best in you so what do you think I mean?
Speaker 1do you believe in that?
Speaker 2yeah, I do believe that I had a doctor that literally saved my life two years ago. I was um on the brink of death, which is a whole nother story, but he I still see him. He's a very um, insightful man and he told me you never meet anybody by chance. If you get on an elevator with somebody, you're meant to be with that person in that moment and you never know what the purpose may be or you may know, but you may not. And I think that everybody that comes into your life can test you, they can bring out the best in you and they can teach you. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1I agree. We have today's quote for a reason, because it hit me. Last night I saw a Bible verse from Exodus 9-16 that says but I have raised you up for this very purpose. I honestly believe people have been placed in our lives for a reason to help change us and help make us better but many times we don't let them know about it. They're there but we don't tell them. I honestly believe people are placed in our lives for a reason People listening right now. You need to stop and look at who is in your life that is helping you in making a difference and let the people know about it, because we're not promised a tomorrow. Tell these people today what they mean to you when you have a chance and I believe that you, holly, that you were put here at WQSB for a reason.
Speaker 1I've had the honor of working with some very talented female co-hosts Jenna Sue, linda Mary. They each were extremely talented and had some amazing qualities that they brought to the station. But over the past year, I can honestly say that I have never seen a response from our listeners towards one of our announcers like I have for you when we go out in public, or whether it's from Facebook comments or emails or text over the past year. It's been amazing Now looking at our Facebook page last night at the people listening to our podcast. They were commenting on what they like and what they love, and they love you, they appreciate you in all the ways that you make them laugh and smile every day your jokes, your singing, your laugh, your love for your daughters and, most of all, they comment on how much you show that you care for them.
Speaker 1For and in today's hard world, that's huge, because we all need to find a way to laugh more, and you help give people that and more. It's like this any time we go out in public. People truly love you and appreciate you, and I think you were placed here at WQSB for a reason, and our lives for a reason. You've helped make this morning show an amazing show and it continues to get better every day. I just wanted to tell you this today because I don't think we tell people this kind of thing enough, because you and I both struggle with depression and issues and we have both had a hard time lately. I felt like you needed to hear this and everybody out there who may be struggling also might need to hear this too, that if you have somebody in your life that means something to you, that you really believe that they were placed here for a reason, let them know that you appreciate them. Speaker 2That's the Thank you. I always think about Robin Williams. You know he says the happiest people are sometimes the most tortured, but they want to make other people smile. I've been going through the toughest season of my life recently.
Speaker 2And I just want to show up and make people smile, because I don't want anybody to feel what I feel when I leave the station and I'm okay, I'm going to be okay, but you just never know what people are going through behind closed doors, that's true. People are going through behind closed doors, that's true, and so it's really important to be kind to everybody, because you don't know the struggles that people are facing or dealing with and it can be life-changing struggles, like what I'm dealing with right now and my goal. When I get here at five in the morning, I clock in and it's almost like a mental clock in. I I check out of everything that's going on and I just want to make people happy will you do that?

Speaker 1Come on man. It's a come on man, but it's a good come on man, because I love these. It's a come on man, feel good story. I mean, come on man, why can't more people be like this young man? Here, a teenager donated two feet of hair for sick children after growing it out since third grade. Now you hear this a lot with like St Jude and other hospitals where people grow their hair and then they can donate it for you know, make wigs and things for those who are undergoing, like you know, cancer treatments. But the Rhode Island boy, boy, huge heart spent years growing his hair out just so he could cut it all off and donate it to a good cause. Emilio santana is 14, currently a ninth grader has been doing this since he was in the third grade, and the reason why he did this now you've got that this is pretty amazing this is we need the world full of more people like this young man you want to hear it, yeah, go right okay.
Speaker 2It said that it all started with a stranger he saw years ago. He said I started growing my hair out in the third grade. A little girl at the beach was going to the water and took her hat off and her hair went with it. Oh, you could just see she was sad and felt embarrassment and that kind of just stuck with me.
Speaker 1He said and he said that moment impacted him too. He found out more about this, about how you could grow your hair and then have it cut and you could donate it to organizations, and he says that's what I want to do. He said, even when I got some comments like boys shouldn't have long hair and stuff like that, he said I decided, as long as I get to see somebody smile, and he said I decided, as long as I get to see somebody smile and make their life better, I wanted to do it. Yeah, no matter what other people say about me.
Speaker 2Yeah, and my long hair. What an impactful young man in the third grade to see and very intuitive, and I mean I could see him doing it at 14. Sure, at 14 years old you're more aware, but in the third grade, yeah, that's like, not eight and nine years old.
Speaker 1Yeah, it blows my mind that this kid has that big of a heart, that his parents did a good job with him his hair is two feet long when they cut it, so he'd been growing it since he was in the third grade for six years, and he grew it just only for one reason to allow people to make hair for other kids. Wow, yeah, that's a good story. 741.

Still, harlow's getting older, she likes to shower, but Mayor loves a bath and she will stay in there until her whole entire body is pruned.

Speaker 2Parents say hurry up to their kids on average about 540 times during the school year. I think that's a low number.

Speaker 1And a couple of things since Lee's in a lot of tech stuff. There's a hot new gadget for the fall. Here's a hot new gadget. It's a tire inflator. Now, I used to have one of these. Basically it's like one you can put it in your tire and it maybe gives you just a couple of pounds of air. But there's a new one they've come out with. It's a picture on their Facebook page. It's called the Astro AIL-7. It's $21, and it's an emergency tire pump tire pump and it's about big enough it can actually fit in your cup holder. Wow. And they said that it's going to be able to hold up to one pound and fits most car cup holders. It's great for black bike tires, basketballs, everything you need, except probably for, like, a car tire. But I like to say going to the beach, you're going to the beach. We forgot to get somebody to blow up all the floats and all the yeah you got this little thing, little thing, boom, no problem at all.
Speaker 1And it fits. It's so tiny. It fits in your backpack or fits in your cup holder. I have a really stupid question. Go right ahead, I wouldn't expect anything less, uh-oh.
Speaker 2Is air just contained in this little gadget, Like there's just air in there.
Speaker 1Lee, you're the technical.
Speaker 4I would have to look more at it, but I wouldn't think so.
Speaker 2No, no, Okay, so it's not on double-plugging. She's asking where does it go?
Speaker 4No because I mean all right, hear me out, I'm going to say no, and the reason being if it was in there, how would it get back in there after you use?
Speaker 2it. That was my next question. How do so?
Speaker 4no, but I bet there is some kind of. It has to have charge up enough to have the actual power, the push to push the air.
Speaker 1So you can charge it up and it puts air back. That is a good question Really. It really is. I mean, I'm impressed.

Speaker 4No, no, no. I think it just sucks the air as it's pumping in the tire.
Speaker 2Okay, it sucks air out of the yeah.
Speaker 4It sucks air out of the area. It's just got to have the power to do it. It's just like any other blow-up mattress pump. You know Gotcha, Basically. Except for it's got a lithium battery in it, I would assume.
Speaker 2Then why does it say it holds a gallon? Didn't it say that?
Speaker 1It says it holds. Let's see it supports up to eight car tire refills, yet weighs only about one pound. Okay, it says it can fill up eight car tires but shouldn't it be infinite?
Speaker 4it should be infinite, but I bet it's eight car tires until the battery dies. Oh, as long as the battery is working I'm just gonna say if it can fill up eight car tires full, that that's a great deal for $21. I might get one Now for bike tires and stuff. I think I would pass on that.
Speaker 1That is a good deal for a car tire.
Speaker 4A car tire yeah.
Speaker 1Flat tire. Get you enough air in it to get you to a gas station. Yeah, I mean, if not that at least get enough air to get down the road and put some more air in it, at least eight times until I get to the gas station.
Speaker 2So it's not one of these big tanks like that. Yeah, yeah, this one like fits in your cup holder. Basically it looks like a bluetooth speaker.
Speaker 4It does all right, hear me out, though. They do make this same thing, but they make it with a car adapter. Oh, plugs in, you got to plug into it, yeah, and it's just. You know, just a little bit longer, yeah, and you might not have to stop eight times.
Speaker 1So now this one, you can just take it with you, put it in your purse or your.
Speaker 4If you're an outdoors person, this one's probably for you. That's a good idea.

Speaker 4No, I cannot take those on oh my gosh, my wife is a huge fan of them, and she y'all. We have an air compressor, but she knows I hate balloon arches so much that she doesn't bring it up that she's bought one. Yeah, until I'm there, and so we're always blowing up these balloon arches.
Speaker 3That's a lot of work. That's a lot of work. It's like 30 balloons.

Speaker 1Mornings. Animal story Dog walking. Now you say that you recently started walking your dog again.
Speaker 2Yes, I did. I got him a leash and a collar and I think he walks me more than I walk him.
Speaker 1That brings up this next study. A new study is going on saying that there are more dog walking injuries over the past 20 years than ever before. Johns Hopkins researched this and found that the number of adults who had to visit the ER with injuries increased from 7,000 a year to 32,000 per year over the past 20 years. 75% of patients were women. 47% of patients were between the ages of 40 and 64, and they say that the problem is mainly the retractable leashes that the dogs will take off and the retract is that what you have retractable leash and then he'll take off and pull you.
Speaker 2It's, it's real quick because it says oh, recommends using a non-retractable. I have a retractable, yes, yes.
Speaker 1So it pulls until it gets to a certain point.
Speaker 2And then it jerks me, then it's going to jerk you, yeah.
Speaker 1Maybe jerk your arm may even pull you down to the ground. They said they've had many reports of people being pulled across the ground much like a sled dog.
Rescuing Dogs, Overcoming Struggles
Speaker 2Why are you laughing? This is I know, I know, oh it pulled you down, I had okay so sorry. Before I had kids, yeah, I used to foster, uh, dogs that people would find and I had a big backyard and it was fenced in and I can't tell you how many dogs that I fostered and found homes for, right. So I was two months pregnant so not very pregnant with Harlow and I had found a great Pyrenees that was without a home.
Speaker 1Those are pretty big dogs. They're huge.
Speaker 2Huge. He was extremely matted. He was malnourished. It was awful. So I took him in. I nursed him, got him back to health. The seasons changed. Winter came, it started snowing.
Speaker 1Oh, no ice on the driveway I'm walking the dog oh no, I slip, yeah, he continues walking and I skate down the driveway on my belly on my two-month pregnant belly why didn't you video this?
Speaker 2it's not funny, I was was pregnant. Yeah, I was so scared, but anyway I didn't have to go to the ER, but I mean I did call my OB.
Speaker 4I did yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, I called my OB and he said your baby's not the size of a pea.
Speaker 1You're fine, you should be okay. Yeah, you're good, yeah, yeah. Anyway, there's a lot of, though, from 7,000 to 32,000. I wonder if that part of that was during the COVID period, if more people were outside just nothing else to do, just walking the dogs. I don't know why it increased that much, I don't know yeah.
Speaker 2Maybe it's just because it's more popular to do these days, I don't know.

And if we encourage you, if somebody's in your life that does something that you appreciate, let them know. Don't wait, because you may not get that tomorrow, to let them know.
Speaker 2Yeah, this is so true people know how much you appreciate them and people are out there battling things that you may have no idea about and that may turn that around for them.
Speaker 1Just one positive thing to be said like lee said, I think that robin williams was one of my favorite actors, favorite comedians, and he had so many struggles which I didn't know until later at the end of his life how much he battled depression. Yeah, I don't think many people did, but one of the quotes he had was the one that you mentioned, around 710. Because you don't know the struggles and sometimes the people. I forget exactly how this quote is worded, but it's something to deal with about some of the people who struggle the most. You think they're the happiest, but they're not.
Speaker 2They're the ones that try to make people smile.
Speaker 1So that you won't feel like they do on the inside.
Speaker 2That's exactly right. That's what I do when I come and clock in, and I said this this morning at 7.10. But when I come and clock in for the morning show, I try to clock out of my other life. It's almost like I live as a split personality. I come in, I've got my game face on, I'm ready to laugh, I'm ready to make people laugh because I don't want anybody to feel the way that I feel when it gets dark.

Yeah, His quote is, I think, the saddest people always try their hardest to make people happy because they know what it's like to feel absolutely worthless and they don't want anyone else to feel like that Absolutely. And that was from Robin Williams and he's struggled so much. And the quote today. I saw it yesterday and I thought this is something I think we need to touch on.
